Short bio
I got my Ph.D. in Informatics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa on October 1996 with the thesis "Paraconsistent Extended Logic Programming with Constraints."
I concluded my undergraduate course in Informatics (Computer Science) on 1992, in the same institution.
I am member of the Portuguese Board of Engineers.
I am a member the Artificial Intelligence Centre of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Centro de Inteligência Artificial da Universidade Nova de Lisboa - CENTRIA)
Research Interests
Activities, projects and publications
Organizer of the Reasoning Web 2006 Summer School, which took place at the Campus of Caparica in September 2006.
Member of the REWERSE Network of Excellence
Member of the technical group Fuzzy RuleML of the RuleML initiative.
I participate in several national and international research projects, in particular I've coordinated:
- TARDE Project (Tabulation And Revision in a Distributed Prolog Environment) funded by the Portuguese PRAXIS XXI programme of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia do Ministério da Ciência.
- W4 project activities, aiming at the construction of Prolog Based tools for supporting advanced applications for the Semantic Web.
The scientific results are reported in a series of publications.
Teaching
I am an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department (Departamento de Informática) of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa since March 1999.
I am currently teaching the courses:
- Reasoning in the Semantic Web, a course of the Advanced Module on Semantic Web of the European Master's in Computational Logic and of Mestrado em Engenharia Informática
- Complexity Theory bridging course of the European Master's in Computational Logic.
- Introduction to Artificial Intelligence of the undergraduate course on Computer Science.
